SumUp enters into partnership with leading digital till provider
Revel Systems incorporate SumUp’s technology into their iPad-based tills to boost EU expansion
London – April 26, 2013
SumUp, the company that enables merchants to take debit and credit card payments with their smartphones, has today announced a partnership with Revel Systems, a leading provider of iPad POS systems. The deal means that Revel Systems iPad POS will now be equipped to process debit and credit payments, as well as cash, using the SumUp API.
Revel Systems already provides iPad-based tills to over 1000 chain stores and restaurants throughout the US, Canada, Australia, and Saudi Arabia. This partnership will enable Revel Systems to grow into the European market. Their tills run on an award-winning mobile iPad point-of-sale platform that allows for real-time reporting, secure, centralized management, and rapid scalability.
Florian Richter, UK Managing Director of SumUp, commented, “Revel Systems has already made great strides in terms of revolutionizing the humble cash register – but an inability to process credit and debit card payments was holding it back. Now that SumUp is on board, Revel Systems’ customers will be able to take full advantage of the integrity of our secure infrastructure and the frictionless way in which we process payments.”
Lisa Falzone, CEO of Revel Systems, commented, “Having brought the till into the 21st Century, we needed to find an equally forward-thinking partner to give the retailers we work with the flexible options they need to take different types of payments. SumUp’s technology is aligned with ours because it’s lightweight, secure, and speedy. SumUp is a natural partner for Revel. We’re always looking to forge new partnerships with those businesses that aim to enhance the overall customer experience of our iPad POS System. Our users are also certain to appreciate the easy SumUp sign-up process and pay-as-you-go billing. We’re looking forward to working with SumUp as we expand to new markets.”
Today’s news follows the launch of SumUp’s API in autumn 2012, which allows businesses and developers looking to incorporate payment processing functionality into their own app to do so, quickly, easily, and securely. Revel Systems’ users will receive SumUp’s iconic black card reader along with their tills (which will now come pre-loaded with SumUp’s mobile payments app).
