Accept contactless payments with only an iPhone

Getting started with Tap to Pay on iPhone is really simple. To enable the product:

1. Follow the links on this page to create your free SumUp profile

2. Download SumUp from the App Store and sign in

3. On the app home screen, select ‘Tap to Pay on iPhone’ to enable

4. Enter the amount you’d like to charge your customer, tap ‘Charge,’ and select ‘Tap to Pay on iPhone’

5. Ask your customer to hold their card over the contactless symbol at the top of the screen until the transaction is complete

Keeping our fees simple to understand and fair is important to us at SumUp. With Tap to Pay on iPhone, you’ll only pay a small transaction fee of 1.69% on each payment that you take with your iPhone. You won’t be held to any binding contracts or monthly minimum charges. 

With Tap to Pay on iPhone, you can accept Visa and Mastercard payments, as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay and other digital wallets. Please note that American Express payments are currently not supported for Tap to Pay on iPhone transactions.

To use Tap to Pay on iPhone you’ll need to make sure that you’re using an iPhone XS or newer which is running iOS 16.4 or higher. You’ll also need to make sure you’ve downloaded the free SumUp app.

Paying with Tap to Pay on iPhone is really simple. All your customers need to do is tap their contactless card, iPhone, Apple Watch or other smart device over the contactless symbol at the top of your iPhone until you’re notified that the transaction has been completed.
