SumUp launches plug and play point of sale system for small businesses
SumUp Point of Sale Box will offer everything a merchant needs to run their business
London – June 25, 2013
SumUp, the company that empowers merchants to take debit and credit card payments with their smartphones, has today announced the launch of the SumUp Point of Sale Box – a complete plug and play package that allows merchants to set up a point of sale within minutes. The Point of Sale Box has been designed by SumUp with the specific needs of small businesses in mind and will give merchants such as cafes, fashion boutiques and beauty stores access to an affordable and easy to use point of sale system.
The Point of Sale Box will include a pre-configured iPad, an iPad stand, a receipt printer, a cash drawer and a Wi-Fi router. The entire setup can be up and running in less than 15 minutes. The monthly rental price for the box will be €69.95 which includes a 48h turnaround replacement guarantee on any component of the Box as well as a full 30 day money-back guarantee.
Stefan Jeschonnek, co-founder of SumUp and the company’s product lead, said: “By enabling businesses of any size to accept card payments with our mobile card reader we have already solved a key issue for tens of thousands of merchants across Europe. The Point of Sale Box complements our existing offering and takes SumUp to the next level. Setting up and running a traditional point of sale system with integrated card acceptance functionality can cost thousands of Euros and is usually highly complicated. Following our mission to empower local business, the SumUp Point of Sale Box gives any merchant access to a complete point of sale system – easy to use, affordable and delivered in one single box.”
The SumUp Point of Sale Box will be available in a public beta in Germany from today and can be ordered at http://www.sumup.de/kassensystem. SumUp plans to roll out the new offer to more countries in the near future.
