Terms and Conditions of participation in the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme

1. Customer relationship

1.1 The provider of the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme (“Programme”) is SumUp Payments Limited, a company with limited liability incorporated in England and Wales with its registered number 07836562 and with its registered office at 32 - 34 Great Marlborough St, London W1F 7JB, UK, is the provider of the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme. SumUp Payments Limited is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011.

1.2 The SumUp Pay Cashback Programme allows you to earn cashback on the purchase of goods or services from all merchants, where you pay with a SumUp Pay Mastercard, a SumUp payment link or via SumUp QR code, and to redeem it at one of the SumUp merchants. The details of participation as well as the receipt and usage of earned cashback will be stipulated in detail below. Participation is free of charge. 

1.3 By joining the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and a resident of the UK. These Conditions of participation govern the contractual relationship between you and SumUp EU Payments UAB (“we”, “SumUp”, or “SumUp Pay”). By registering for the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme, you accept the Terms and Conditions of participation as binding. English law applies.

1.4 Only natural persons can participate in the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme.

1.5 The cashback earned in the SumUp Cashback Programme is not and may not be exchanged to electronic money or any other financial instrument. Thus, financial products regulations do not apply to the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme. Usage of the cashback means that SumUp or its merchants give you a certain discount for the purchase.

2. Requirements for participating in SumUp Pay Cashback Programme

2.1 In order to participate in the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme and earn cashback, you must first download our SumUp Pay app (you need to have a compatible device and an Internet connection), fill in all the requested details and accept our Personal Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. Furthermore, you have to successfully complete the KYC process by providing your personal information alongside a valid identification document, if requested. Please note that you're only eligible to participate in the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme if your identification has been approved and your profile has been verified. We reserve the right to reject the verification if it does not meet SumUp’s internal standards.

2.2 In order to earn cashback in the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme, you have to make a successful transaction with your SumUp Pay Mastercard, with a SumUp payment link or via SumUp QR code. 

2.3 Please note that not every purchase entitles you to earn cashback. If a purchase is considered eligible, we will inform you and disclose the cashback value associated with that purchase by displaying it on the transaction details history and confirmation screens. 

2.4 The current value of cashback for your purchase can be found in the SumUp Pay App. SumUp reserves the right to change the rate and/or suspend the opportunity of earning cashback at any time. That would not affect already accrued cashback.

2.5 The maximum cashback value which you can earn within 30 days is 100 GBP. The current maximum cashback value which you can earn with a single transaction can be found here. We reserve the right to change this limit upwards or downwards at our sole discretion. 

2.6 The purchase including the transaction must be fully completed. No cashback will be granted for purchases and transactions which are not fully completed regardless of the reason.

2.7 The following cases in particular, but not exclusively, entitle SumUp either not to credit the cashback to you at all or to cancel it again retrospectively in the event that it has already been credited:  

  • Technical difficulties, but only if cashback would not have been granted even without these technical difficulties or if an incorrect rate was applied as a result. 

  • A SumUp merchant is unable to complete the transaction, regardless of the reason that led to this.

  • A SumUp merchant initiated a refund;

  • A purchase has been canceled (annulment, rescission, withdrawal, etc) or a chargeback has occurred.

  • If there is a suspicion of fraudulent activity or abuse conducted by you. In this case SumUp may additionally cancel your SumUp Pay account.

3. Cashback balance

3.1 You can view your current cashback balance at any time via your SumUp Pay app.

3.2 Any objections to the accuracy or completeness of the cashback balance must be submitted via our “Support request” function, that you can find in the SumUp Pay app, at the latest within one month from receiving cashback  or, if cashback was canceled or the balance expired, at the latest within one month of the cancelation or the expiry. Please include the relevant receipts or invoices with your objection. Failure to make a claim in time is deemed to be an approval of the score. 

4. Redemption of cashback balance

4.1 Cashback can be redeemed under the following conditions: 

  • Make a purchase using the SumUp Pay App or SumUp Pay Mastercard with an eligible SumUp merchant to use cashback balance. That means that cashback redemption is only possible at SumUp merchants and it must be used in conjunction with at least one successful transaction on SumUp Pay or with SumUp Pay Mastercard

  • Options and methods of using cashback may change from time to time at SumUp’s sole discretion. These changes cannot affect your ability of redeeming cashback in general unless these Terms and Conditions state otherwise. Current information can be found here.

  • If a purchase is made using the cashback balance  and partially paid by usual payment, you will only earn cashback for the amount paid with the usual payment method  (i. e. paid with a currency), but not for the value of the entire purchase, unless otherwise stated. That means that you will not earn cashback for the part of payment value which got covered by the cashback balance   

  • The value of cashback required to be used for different rewards (purchases) may vary and will be determined in SumUp’s sole discretion.

  • Cashback  earned in two or more different SumUp Pay accounts cannot be combined for the one particular purchase. Cashback balance is non-transferable.

  • All usages of the cashback balance are final and are not subject to cancellation initiated by you.

  • Cashback cannot be paid out in the form of any currency. It is only a value of the discount you might receive and use at eligible SumUp merchants.

Important information: You can only make payments by using your card if you have corresponding funds in your wallet. This is irrespective of if your cashback balance is enough to cover the entire payment. You can top up your balance wallet at any time to make the payment with your SumUp Mastercard.

5. Expiration of cashback balance and Termination of participation in the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme and changes to the Terms and Conditions

5.1 Cashback will expire 365 days after the date on which it was successfully collected at the point of sale. Expired cashback can no longer be used. For example, cashback earned by a Member on 1st January 2023 will expire on 1st January 2024. Leap years are counted for exact calendar days.

5.2 You may terminate your participation in the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme at any time without notice by notifying SumUp via our “support request” function, that you can find in the SumUp Pay app. If you terminate your participation in the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme, the cashback balance will be removed from your account without further right to use it in the future.

5.3 SumUp reserves the right to terminate and/or to discontinue the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme, or to change the terms, regulations or benefits of participation of such programme, in whole or in part, at any time with or without prior notice. Furthermore, we reserve the right to terminate your SumUp Pay account and cancel any or all earned cashback balance if we suspect that you are abusing the Programme and/or if your activity violates our Terms and Conditions.

5.4 If SumUp discontinues and/or terminates the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme, we will notify you accordingly. You have 2 months from receipt of this information to redeem your cashback balance for a purchase at one of our SumUp merchants. If you do not redeem your cashback balance within this period, they will expire. Please note that the cashback balance cannot and will not be paid out in the form of any currency.

6. Miscellaneous

6.1 Should SumUp offer rewards from or through any partners, SumUp will not be responsible for any partner's participation in or withdrawal from the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme.

6.2 You are solely responsible for any tax liability related to participation in the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme.

6.3 You cannot redeem cashback earned in the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme before your account verification is completed and approved by SumUp, which means that you have to successfully complete the KYC process.  

6.4 The phone number and/or email address and/or device ID used to sign up cannot have been previously associated with another SumUp Pay account.

6.5 Re-verification of the account on which cashback was previously claimed does not entitle you to further loyalty points.

6.6 The SumUp Pay Cashback Programme is void where prohibited or if accounts or transactions are fraudulent, abusive, not completed through legitimate channels, in violation of any applicable Terms and Conditions, or irregular in any way.
