Need help with SumUp Pay?

Your personal QR code is a QR code that's unique to your profile. It can be scanned by others to show your profile information. If they're also using SumUp Pay, they'll be given the option to send and request money.

You can find your personal QR code by selecting the 'Scan' tab and then tapping on 'My code.' Alternatively. tap your profile icon and then on 'Get paid'.

Please note that your personal QR code will only be generated once you've successfully completed the signup process.

Yes, there are limits on how much money you can transfer:

• £25,000 per transfer

• £50,000 per day

• £150,000 per month

There's no limit on how much you can receive into your account via bank transfer. However, transferring larger amounts may take a little longer. This allows us to protect your money from potential fraud and financial crime.

If you are adding money to your account via card, you can add a maximum of £300 per calendar day and a maximum of £1,000 per calendar week. You can add money to your account up to three times per calendar day by card.

Yes, it’s easy for non-SumUp Pay users to send you money. Your friend will get a link via SMS letting them know you've requested money from them. If your friend has SumUp Pay downloaded, they'll get taken to the app.

If they don't have the SumUp Pay app, they'll get taken to an online checkout page. This payment method is quick and secure, plus you’ll get a notification when you’ve been paid.

You can receive up to 500€/£ a week from non-SumUp Pay users paying you via guest checkout.

When you make a transfer, we check that the name, account number, and sort code match to make sure your money reaches the right account. This helps protect you from sending money to the wrong person or business.

There are several ways to top up your SumUp Pay balance. If you've already linked a card to your profile, you can use it to top up your balance in the app.

If you want to top up your balance using your bank account, you can do so via bank transfer. Your SumUp Pay account has an account number and sort code which you can use to transfer funds directly to your balance. You can send money back to your bank account at any time.

Open "Your profile" and select "Payment methods" to manage your payment methods. There you can deactivate existing cards or add new cards. Once a card has been added, it cannot be edited. Please be aware that you can only add 4 new cards in a 30 day period.

You can add money to your SumUp Pay account via bank transfers or the following cards:

Accepted cards are:

• Debit cards issued in the UK

• Prepaid cards issued in the UK

Unfortunately, we cannot accept the following cards:

• Credit cards, including all American Express cards

• Company cards

• Visa Deferred Debit Card

• Cards issued outside the UK

Your SumUp Pay Mastercard is free.

You get 4 free cash withdrawals per calendar month – 3 domestic and 1 international. After that, a 2% fixed fee is applied per withdrawal. For example, if you withdraw £50, you’ll be charged £51.

Yes, you can use your virtual SumUp Pay Mastercard to make cash withdrawals at cardless ATMs – just look out for the curved, four-line contactless symbol on them.

To use a cardless ATM, open your mobile wallet, choose your payment card, hold your device close to the contactless symbol on the ATM, and enter your PIN. You can set and change your PIN within the ‘Card’ screen of your SumUp Pay app.

Some ATMs may apply their own fees for cash withdrawals. This fee will appear within the same transaction in your transaction list and typically added on top of the withdrawal amount. We have no control over these fees and we can’t reject or reverse them. You should be informed by the ATM operator before confirming your withdrawal whether additional fees apply and you should have the possibility of cancelling it.

Currently, we do not support 3rd party Wallet payments as well as payments to gambling providers.

When processing a payment the card will use the Wallet Balance funds or automatically charge your linked card that you saved within the App.

If you notice suspicious activity or an unauthorised transaction, you can temporarily block your SumUp Pay card in the app:

1. Open the SumUp Pay app

2. Tap on “Card”

3. Select “Freeze” to block your card instantly

If you need further help, please contact our Support Team. You can also unfreeze your card at any time by following the same steps.

Occasionally transactions may appear on our end as paid even though the paid business will see a failed transaction. Do not worry, your money will not be lost. Depending on the case, after a couple of minutes or days the money will return into your account as a refund to your balance.

We are aware of the inconvenience and work on fixing it.

Unfortunately, only Visa and Mastercards are supported to be linked for charging at this point.

You can link a bank card to your SumUp Pay account, to be able to spend with your SumUp Pay Mastercard. You can also top up your Wallet and spend from it directly.  Accepted cards include:

• UK debit cards

• UK VPay debit cards

• UK VPay prepaid cards

Unfortunately, we can’t accept:

• Credit cards, including any American Express cards

• Corporate cards

• Visa deferred debit cards

• Any foreign card

Every place you shop at has an MCC, also known as a merchant category code. This four-digit number is used by financial institutions to categorise the types of goods and services a merchant offers. When you spend with your SumUp Pay Mastercard, we match the merchant category code to SumUp Pay’s spending categories, such as groceries, transport, or personal care.

If the category we match your payment to doesn’t look right, you can change it manually. Go to the transaction details in your SumUp Pay app and tap ‘Change category’. You can then choose which category you would like to match your payment to.

A Direct Debit (BACS Direct Debit) is a payment method that lets a company take money directly from your SumUp Pay account, such as for subscriptions or regular bills.

You give your account details (account number and sort code) to the company you want to pay. They’ll set up the Direct Debit with your consent, and the payments will then be collected automatically. Direct Debits can be set up from your main balance as well as from any Space you choose.

In your app, you’ll see the individual payments. This means if you authorise a company to set up a Direct Debit today but they don’t collect the first payment until a later date, the Direct Debit will only appear in your app once that first payment is taken.

If your balance is too low, the Direct Debit will fail and no payment will be taken. The company may still try again or ask you to pay by another method.

No. Any changes to the date or amount must be agreed with the company directly.

Yes. BACS Direct Debits are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee. You have the right to a cancel Direct Debit mandates for unauthorised or incorrect payments.

Cashback is a loyalty programme that lets you earn a percentage of your money back when you make purchases. You'll earn 0.5% cashback when you spend with SumUp Pay, excluding gambling transactions, crypto purchases, or topping up a wallet you have with another provider.

Once your identity and profile have been verified, you are eligible to participate in the SumUp Pay Cashback Programme and can immediately collect and redeem cashback.

You'll need to provide the required information and accept our Personal Services Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. You'll also need to complete the KYC ("Know Your Customer") process, which may require you to provide a valid ID document in addition to your personal information.

Please note that the SumUp Pay Cashback programme is only open to individuals who reside in the UK and are over 18 years of age.

You'll earn 0.5% cashback when you spend with SumUp Pay, excluding gambling transactions, crypto purchases, or topping up a wallet you have with another provider. There is a cashback cap of £10 within a calendar month period.

Your cashback is automatically stored in a cashback Space within the app. To spend the cashback, you must withdraw it to your balance. You can then spend your cashback freely from your balance. 

Your cashback will expire if your account is inactive for 12 months. Just make a card payment or bank transfer to keep your account active.

The maximum cashback you can earn with a single transaction is £10, and the maximum cashback you can earn per month is £10.

Follow these simple steps to start earning loyalty rewards:

• Download SumUp Pay

• Link a debit or credit card to your account

• Every time you use the card to spend at a participating SumUp merchant that offers loyalty, you’ll automatically start earning points or stamps

You can earn loyalty rewards at SumUp merchants that offer a rewards programme.

You can earn loyalty rewards on purchases made using any card linked to your SumUp Pay account.

To add a card to your SumUp Pay account, tap the 'Loyalty rewards banner' on your home screen, or tap the profile button at the top right corner of the home screen. Then tap 'Cards' and 'Add card'.

If you pay using your phone, tap ‘Apple Pay’ or ‘Google Pay’ to link the card already on your Apple or Google account.

If you pay using a physical card, tap ‘Credit or debit card’ and enter your card details.

You can also remove existing cards linked to your account.

When you’ve earned enough stamps or points, you can redeem your reward in-store. Open your SumUp Pay app, select the reward you want to redeem, show your reward screen to a member of staff at the till, and swipe right to redeem.

Promotions are limited-time discounts or one-off sales, while rewards are part of an ongoing loyalty programme. Rewards can be redeemed once you’ve earned a certain number of stamps or points.

Promotions are either a one-off or run for a limited time and have an expiry date. The expiration date will be clearly stated in your SumUp Pay app or the promotional communications.

You'll continue earning stamps with each qualifying payment. When you redeem a full stamp card, you'll receive a new card. Any stamps you've earned but not used on the redeemed card will automatically transfer to the new card. 

For example, you’ve earned 7 stamps, and your card requires 5 stamps to be redeemed. After redeeming, you'll have a new card with 2 stamps already on it.

You can earn up to £100 with SumUp Pay’s refer a friend programme. To be eligible for your reward, your referred friend must complete the following steps within 30 days of adding the referral code to their account:

• Sign up to SumUp Pay. Verify their identity and add your referral code to their account.

• Add money to their account.

• Make three card payments with a total minimum value of £10 – certain transactions such as gambling and bank transfers aren't eligible.

You’ll get your reward within 30 days of your friend completing the steps. To receive the reward, both you and your friend must have a verified account. Suspended, deleted, and blocked accounts are not eligible for the reward.

To create a Space, tap on ‘Create Space’ when you open your SumUp Pay app. If you want to change the name, goal, emoji or colour of your Space, tap ‘More’ and then tap ‘Edit’.

You can create up to 10 Spaces for free.

To move money in and out of your Spaces, tap into a Space and then tap 'Send money’. You can transfer money to and from your main balance, between different Spaces, or make an outgoing transfer directly from a Space to another account. Each Space has its own account number and sort code, which means you can receive transfers directly into that Space without moving money from your main balance.

You can also schedule transfers so money is added to your Space automatically. Transfers can be set as a one-time payment or set to repeat weekly, every 2 weeks, monthly, quarterly, or yearly.

You can create a goal for your Space when you first set up your Space. Under ‘Goal’, enter the amount you want to save in your Space. Goals are optional – you do not need to add a goal to create a Space.

To remove a goal, tap into your Space and tap the pencil icon next to the goal amount. Change the goal amount to 0 and tap ‘Save changes’.

Yes, you can. Open the SumUp Pay app, tap into the Space you want to change, and tap the three-dot icon in the top corner. From there, you’ll have the option to edit or delete the Space.

If you delete a Space, any money inside it will automatically move back to your main balance.

For Shared Spaces, only the owner can edit or delete the Space.

To create a Shared Space, open the SumUp Pay app and tap ‘Create Space’. You can choose between a Personal Space (just for you) or a Shared Space.

When setting up a Shared Space, you can invite up to 10 other people to join and manage money together — they’ll need to have a SumUp Pay account to join.

Each Shared Space can include up to 11 people, including the Space owner.

The person who creates the Space is the owner. They have full control – they can add or withdraw money, view transfers, remove members, and close the Space.

Other members can also add and withdraw money, view transfers, and leave the Space at any time. Everyone in the Space can see each other’s name.

Open the Shared Space, tap the three-dot icon, and then choose ‘Leave Space’.

Open the Shared Space, tap the icon showing two people, and select ‘See members’. From there you can tap on a member’s name and remove them from the Space.

The person who creates the Shared Space is the sole legal owner of the money. Shared Spaces uses a legal model called Power of Attorney, which means the owner gives permission to the other members to view, add, or withdraw money, but ownership stays with the person who opened the Space.

In a joint bank account, all account holders legally own the money. With a Shared Space, there is one legal owner – the person who sets it up. The others are invited as members and granted Power of Attorney, allowing them to access and manage the money, but not legally own it.

Shared Spaces is a simple and flexible way to manage money with trusted people who use SumUp Pay, whether that's friends, family, flatmates, or colleagues.

For now, you can only share a Space with someone who lives in the same country of residence as you.

Tap on any paid transaction you want to split within the SumUp Pay app. Please note that the transaction has to involve a business, so any bank transfers or incentives won’t be valid.

Once you tap into the transaction, you can then select the ‘Split bill’ button. You can then select existing contacts or add a phone number. Once your friends are selected, choose how you want to divide the bill – equal splits or custom amounts. Click on ‘Request money’ and your friends will get a request.

You can then track payment status in real time and get notified when friends pay their share by navigating to the Payments tab or into the transaction.

Yes. They will be directed to a webpage instead of the app where they pay with their card details or Apple Pay/Google Pay.

A bill split can only be cancelled if none of the participants have paid. You can cancel the request or the friend you send it to can also decline your request.

If one of your friends has paid, then it can not be cancelled.

You can track payment status in real time and get notified when friends pay their share by navigating to the Payments tab or into the transaction. As soon as your friend pays, you will see the money added to your SumUp Pay main balance.

To add a promo code, open your SumUp Pay app, tap the button in the top right corner, and then tap 'Enter a code’.

A QR code is similar to a barcode. It holds information that is read when scanned. Using SumUp Pay, you can scan a participating merchant's QR code and complete your payment using the app.

With SumUp Pay, you can pay at any participating SumUp merchant. You can either scan the merchant's QR code from their smart device or from a stand, display or sticker at the merchant’s business.

Your merchant can send you a payment link via email, SMS or other messaging services like WhatsApp. Tapping on the link will automatically open SumUp Pay and display the amount owed to the merchant. All you have to do is confirm the payment to complete the transaction.

You can pay payment links using any card linked to your SumUp Pay account.

When you pay a payment link with a credit card as a verified SumUp Pay customer, your bank or credit card issuer may in some instances charge you a cash advance fee. SumUp Pay charges no fees and has no control over third-party fees. To avoid being charged a cash advance fee, we recommend you add money to your account and pay payment links using your SumUp Pay balance, or a linked debit card.
