Terms and Conditions of participation in the SumUp Pay Loyalty Program

1. Customer relationship

1.1 The provider of the SumUp Pay Loyalty Program (“Program”) is SumUp EU Payments UAB (registered number 305074395, registered office at Konstitucijos Ave. 21C, LT-08130 Vilnius, Lithuania). SumUp EU Payments UAB holds an E-Money license and is authorized and supervised by the Bank of Lithuania.

1.2 The SumUp Pay Loyalty Program allows you to collect SumUp Network Points on the purchase of goods or services from all affiliated merchants and to redeem them by using the SumUp Network Points collected to make a purchase from one of the SumUp merchants. The details of participation as well as the receipt and usage of SumUp Network Points will be stipulated in detail below. Participation is free of charge. 

1.3 By joining the SumUp Pay Loyalty Program, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and a resident of Germany. These Conditions of participation govern the contractual relationship between you and SumUp EU Payments UAB (“we”, “SumUp”, or “SumUp Pay”). By registering for the SumUp Pay Loyalty Program, you accept the Terms and Conditions of participation as binding. Lithuanian law applies.

1.4 Only natural persons can participate in the SumUp Pay Loyalty Program.

1.5 The SumUp Network Points are not electronic money or any other financial instrument. Thus, financial products regulation is not applied regarding the SumUp Network Points. Usage of the SumUp Loyalty Points means that SumUp or its merchants give you a certain discount for the purchase.

2. Requirements for participating in SumUp Pay Loyalty Program and for collecting SumUp Network Points 

2.1 In order to participate in SumUp Pay Loyalty Program and earn SumUp Network Points, you must first download our SumUp Pay App (you need to have a compatible device and an Internet connection), fill in all the requested details and accept our Personal Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. You furthermore have to complete the KYC process successfully by providing your personal information alongside a valid identification document, if requested. Please note that you're only eligible to participate in SumUp Pay Loyalty Program, if your identification has been approved and your profile has been verified. We reserve the right to reject the verification if it does not meet SumUp’s internal standards.

2.2 To collect SumUp Network Points, you have to sign into your SumUp Pay account and make a purchase (in EUR currency) that is initiated on an SumUp Pay website, mobile site or app (each, an “SumUp Pay Site” and collectively, the “SumUp Pay Sites”).  

2.3 Please note that not every purchase entitles you to collect the SumUp Network Points. If a purchase is eligible for SumUp Network Points, we will inform you and disclose the number of SumUp Network Points associated with that purchase by displaying the number of SumUp Network Points on the transaction details history and confirmation screens. 

2.4 Please find the current value of SumUp Network Points for your purchase on our website, which can change from time to time. SumUp reserves the right and at SumUp´s sole discretion to suspend the opportunity of collecting SumUp Network Points and to change the value of SumUp Network Points collectable for any SumUp merchant or particular purchase or other activity at any time. That would not affect the amount of the SumUp Network Points that you already own.

2.5 SumUp Pay purchases that are not initiated on a SumUp Pay Site are not eligible for SumUp Network Points unless it is a purchase through a SumUp Pay Card issued by SumUp.

2.6 Please note that you can earn a maximum of 10,000 SumUp Network Points within 30 days. We reserve the right to change this limit upwards or downwards at our sole discretion. 

2.7 The purchase including the transaction must be fully completed. No SumUp Network Points will be granted for purchases and transactions which are not fully completed regardless of the reason.

2.8 The following cases in particular, but not exclusively, entitle SumUp either not to credit the SumUp Network Points to you at all or to cancel them again retrospectively in the event that they have already been credited:  

  • Technical difficulties, but only if the SumUp Network Points would not have been granted even without these technical difficulties or if too many points were granted as a result. 

  • SumUp merchant may not be able to complete the transaction, regardless of the reason that led to this;

  • SumUp merchant initiated refunds;

  • A purchase has been canceled (annulment, rescission, withdrawal, etc.) or a chargeback has occurred;

  • If there is a suspicion of fraudulent activity or abuse conducted by you. In this case SumUp will additionally cancel your SumUp Pay account.

3. SumUp NetworkPoints Balance

3.1 You can view your current point balance at any time via your SumUp Pay App.

3.2 Any objections to the accuracy or completeness of the SumUp Network Points balance must be submitted via our “support request” function, that you can find in the SumUp Pay App, at the latest within one month of receipt of the SumUp Network Points or, if the SumUp Network Points were canceled or expired, at the latest within one month of the cancelation or the expiry of the SumUp Network Points. Please include the relevant receipts or invoices with your objection. Failure to make a claim in time is deemed to be an approval of the score. 

4. Redemption of SumUp Network Points 

4.1 SumUp Network Points can be redeemed under the following conditions: 

  • Log into your SumUp Pay App.

  • Make a purchase using the SumUp Pay App with an eligible SumUp merchant to use SumUp Network Points. That means that the loyalty points must be used in conjunction with at least one successful transaction on SumUp Pay at a SumUp merchant. 

  • If you make a purchase at a non SumUp merchant you will only receive SumUp Network Points if you made the payment with your SumUp Pay Card issued by SumUp. 

  • Options and methods of using SumUp Network Points may change from time to time at SumUp’s sole discretion. These changes cannot affect your ability of using your SumUp Network Points in general unless these Terms and Conditions state otherwise. Current information can be found here.

  • If a purchase is made using the SumUp Network Points and partially paid by usual payment, you will only receive SumUp Network Points for the amount paid with usual payment method (i. e. paid with a currency), but not for the value of the entire purchase, unless otherwise stated. That means, that you will not get SumUp Network Points for using your SumUp Network Points.   

  • The number of SumUp Network Points required to be used for different rewards (purchases) may vary and will be determined in SumUp’s sole discretion.

  • SumUp Network Points collected in two or more different SumUp Pay accounts cannot be combined for the one particular purchase. SumUp Network Points are non-transferable to friends and family.

  • All usages of the SumUp Network Points are final and are not subject to cancellation initiated by you.

  • SumUp Network Points cannot be paid out in the form of any currency.

Important Information: You can only make payments by using your card if you have corresponding funds in your wallet. This is irrespective of if you have collected enough SumUp Network Points. You can of course top up your balance wallet at any time to make the payment with your card.

5. Expiration of the SumUp Network Points and Termination of participation in the SumUp Pay Loyalty Program and changes to the Terms and Conditions

5.1 SumUp Network Points will expire 365 days after the date on which SumUp Network Points were successfully earned at the point of sale. Expired SumUp Network Points can no longer be used. For example, SumUp Network Points collected by a member on January 1, 2022 will expire on January 1, 2023. Leap years are counted for exact calendar days.

5.2 You may terminate your participation in the SumUp Pay Loyalty Program at any time without notice by notifying SumUp via our “support request” function, that you can find in the SumUp Pay app. If you terminate your participation in the SumUp Pay Loyalty Program, SumUp Network Points that you own will be cancelled without further right to use them in the future.

5.3 SumUp reserves the right to terminate and /or to discontinue the SumUp Pay Loyalty Program, or to change the terms, regulations or benefits of participation in such program, in whole or in part, at any time with or without notice. SumUp furthermore reserves the right to terminate your SumUp Pay account and cancel any or all collected SumUp Network Points if SumUp suspects that you are abusing the SumUp Pay Loyalty Program or are misrepresenting any information furnished to SumUp Pay.  

5.4 If SumUp discontinues and/or terminates the SumUp Pay Loyalty Program, we will notify you accordingly. You have 2 months from receipt of this information to redeem your collected SumUp Network Points for a purchase at one of our SumUp merchants. If you do not redeem your SumUp Network Points within this period, they will expire. Please note that SumUp Network Points cannot and will not be paid out in the form of any currency.

6. Miscellaneous

6.1 Should SumUp offer rewards from or through any partners, SumUp will not be responsible for any partner's participation in or withdrawal from the SumUp Pay Loyalty Program.

6.2 You are solely responsible for any tax liability related to participation in the SumUp Pay Loyalty Program.

6.3 You cannot use SumUp Loyalty Points before your account verification is completed and approved by SumUp, which means that you have successfully completed the KYC process.  

6.4 Phone number, and/or email address and/or device ID used to sign up cannot have been previously associated with another SumUp Pay account.

6.5 Re-verification of the account on which the SumUp Network Points was previously claimed does not entitle to further loyalty points.

6.6 The SumUp Pay Loyalty Program is void where prohibited or if accounts or transactions are fraudulent, abusive, not completed through legitimate channels, in violation of any applicable Terms and Conditions, or irregular in any way.

6.7 These terms are published in English and any translation is a courtesy translation only - participants of the SumUp Pay Loyalty Program cannot derive any rights from the translated version. The English language version of these terms shall apply and prevail and be conclusive and binding.
