Terms & Conditions – Women's Business Accelerator

  1. Organiser of this competition:

    1. SumUp Payments Limited, a company with limited liability incorporated in England and Wales with its registered number 07836562 and with its registered office at 16-20 Shorts Gardens, London WC2H 9US, UK.  which operates under the name "SumUp", conducts this Womens Business Accelerator Competition (hereinafter referred to as “The competition”).

  2. Prize details:

    1. The winner in the Competition will receive a £10 000 boost, deposited directly into the winner’s merchant SumUp Business account, payable excluding VAT when such is due.

  3. Entry requirements:

    1. These rules define the competition rules. Participation in the competition implies that the Participant has accepted the rules of the Competition and all terms and conditions or additional terms and conditions that may be communicated to the participant by electronic message, by message placed on the Website or by any other message that may be communicated to the participant by any other means.

    2. The competition is open to all women who have an active SumUp Business account, follow SumUp Social channels and have a business registered in the United Kingdom. Each person can only participate once. Multiple applications or applications from third parties will not be accepted.

    3. Directors and employees of SumUp, companies affiliated with SumUp or family members of employees are not allowed to participate in the competition. Prizes cannot be transferred to third parties or exchanged for cash.

    4. To take part in the competition, the participant must record a short video and register its participation via this Google form within a period from 07/03/2025 up to 24/03/2025 before midday.

    5. Please note that the prize won cannot be used without successful registration in accordance with SumUp's Terms and Conditions. In the event of an unsuccessful registration, the prize is then forfeited without replacement. No compensation is owed by SumUp.  

  4. Winners selection:

    1. On 31st March 2025 the winner will be selected from the participants who have filled out the Google registration form.

    2. SumUp will assemble a panel of judges who will evaluate applications based on business potential while ensuring a strong commitment to equity and inclusion, recognising the unique challenges women entrepreneurs face. The following criteria will be taken into consideration during the evaluation process:

      1. Business Viability & Impact:

        1. Clear business plan and growth strategy;

        2. Potential for impact (e.g. job creation, innovation, or industry disruption);

        3. Realistic and strategic use of funds

      2. Commitment to DEI:

        1. Consideration of barriers faced by female entrepreneurs (funding, mentorship, systemic challenges);

        2. Representation of diverse industries, backgrounds, and perspectives;

        3. Inclusivity efforts within their business (e.g., supporting underrepresented communities, sustainability).

    3. The winner is obligated to take part in video/photo sessions and provide testimonials where they might share the story of their business as a condition of their participation in the competition. We will use these materials for product development and advertising purposes, including across SumUps organic social media channels such as YouTube, Meta (Facebook; Instagram), LinkedIn and TikTok and on SumUp´s website.

    4. The participants' data are subject to the SumUp Privacy Policy.

  5. Notification and claiming the prize:

    1. By providing the participant’s contact details for the purposes of participation, the Participant agrees and acknowledges that SumUp and its service providers may use this information for the purpose of contacting the Participant with respect to the Contest Entry described in these Rules.

    2. SumUp is not responsible for participations that are lost or delayed due to the transfer of data.

    3. The winners will be notified per e-mail from the email address [email protected] between 31st March and 4th April. All decisions regarding the contest made by SumUp Limited are final and binding. If there is no answer from the selected winner within 7 business days, the judges will select another winner.

  6. Legal Compliance:

    1. SumUp reserves the right to terminate the contest or to introduce changes to the rules for participation or cancellation of the contest. All decisions made by SumUp are final and cannot be appealed. Participants acknowledge that they are not entitled to bring any action against SumUp.

    2. The competition is subject to English law. The place of jurisdiction is the courts of England. By accepting these regulations, the participant confirms that it does not violate any rights of the participant’s country of residence with regard to the right to participate in the contest. SumUp shall not be liable for participants who participate illegally in the Contest. In case of doubt, please leave the website immediately and contact the competent authority in your country.
