Whether you’ve opted for the Air or the Solo, we believe that using your SumUp card reader should be simple and intuitive. To help you get started, we’ve collected a number of easy-to-follow guides to help you start accepting card payments as quickly as possible.

It’s really easy to take card payments with our products. You can accept either chip&PIN or contactless payments on your Air or Solo from the following cards:

With Tap to Pay, you can accept contactless payments by asking your customer to hold their card over the contactless symbol at the top of the screen. Please note, with Tap to Pay on iPhone, you can accept Visa and Mastercard payments, as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay and other digital wallets. American Express payments are currently not supported for Tap to Pay on iPhone transactions.

With Tap to Pay on iPhone and Tap to Pay on Android, you can accept:

Great, you’ve taken the first step towards taking payments for your business with ease. Once you’ve placed your order for an Air or Solo and we’ve received your payment, we’ll process your order and dispatch your device. We’ll send you a confirmation message and a tracking link via SMS and email so that you can keep an eye on its progress. If you’ve chosen Tap to Pay, you can get started straight away. Simply follow the links to create your SumUp profile, download the free SumUp app and log in. On your homescreen you’ll see ‘Tap to Pay.’

SumUp keeps pricing simple and transparent. You either have the choice to pay as you go or sign up for our cost-saving Payments Plus plan.

With the pay-as-you-go plan, there’s no monthly cost – you just pay 1.69% per transaction for card reader payments. This is perfect if your sales vary through the year and you want full flexibility with no monthly cost.

If you’re making more than £3,000 per month in payments, you can save on transaction fees by signing up for the Payments Plus plan. It costs £19 per month and reduces your transaction fee to 0.99% for domestic consumer cards. Online payments have a 2.50% fee, and in-person payments with non-EU or corporate cards (including AMEX) have a 1.69% fee. These rates apply to both the pay-as-you go option and the Payments Plus plan.

You have two options to receive payouts: either the free SumUp Business Account or your own bank account. The perk of the Business Account? You’ll always receive your earnings by 7am the next day – even on weekends and bank holidays. No extra cost, no catch. Plus, you'll get a free Mastercard for all your business expenses. If you choose to use your own bank account, your funds will arrive in 1-2 business days.

Your money will appear in your free Business Account the next day at 7am – even on weekends and bank holidays. You can then spend or withdraw your money using your complementary Mastercard. If you prefer, you can opt to receive payouts directly to any other bank account, with funds arriving within 1-2 business days.

All of our card readers have a battery that lasts a full working day so you won’t have to worry about missing a sale because you’ve run out of charge. When it comes to specifics, the number of transactions that each of our card readers can take on a single charge are as follows:

Air - 500 transactions on a single charge

Solo - 300 transactions on a single charge
