Backend Engineer - Payments (Golang a plus)

Sofia, Bulgaria · Backend

SumUp started empowering the world of small entrepreneurs with our mPOS card acceptance solution in 2012. Today we enable them to get paid easily both in-store and online, process orders quickly, manage their money more efficiently and connect with their customers through peer-to-peer payments, gift cards and more. We create the tools entrepreneurs need to start and expand their businesses. And we love it:)

We are looking for an experienced backend engineer with a tech-agnostic approach who has a sense of ownership of their work and understands the importance of delivering value to customers.

Our teams are cross-functional and work with end-to-end responsibility, that is why you will collaborate heavily with other software developers and QA engineers to ensure seamless deployment, integration and support for our software. You’ll contribute to API design and implementation.

You’ll actively participate in code reviews and provide comprehensive documentation to improve our overall code quality. If you’re passionate about clean, testable code and excited to make a difference using Golang, SumUp might be a great place for you.

  • Proven experience as a backend engineer

  • Relevant experience with Golang or willingness to learn

  • Understanding of software architecture and app design

  • Knowledge of distributed and fault tolerant systems

  • Proactivity and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • You’ll play a key role in a scale-up that in turn is part of a truly global team of 3200+ people from 80+ countries, spread across 4 continents.

  • You’ll join an international company with an inclusive and welcoming culture.

  • You’ll enjoy a good work-life balance, starting with 25 days paid vacation, special occasion days and 1 month of fully paid Sabbatical leave among other great benefits.

  • You’ll join a learning organization, where you can see how each aspect of the business is developed. For when learning doesn’t happen on the job, we have an individual L&D budget you can spend on conferences, books and other types of learning.
