The SumUP
EU Legal Team supports law topics in all EU jurisdictions where SumUp operates.In the role of an Employment counsel you will be an internal counsel and subject matter expert, focused on German labour law and its applications.
What you’ll do:
You will work closely with the People team and advise on various labour law matters on a daily basis
You will perform thorough reviews of German labour contracts and policies on hiring, compensation and termination of employment relations and on Work council- related legal matters.
You will continuously monitor the German labour legislation and practice, update labour documentation used in the German offices, incl. labour contracts and all type of internal policies
You will have the opportunity to represent SumUp as an in-house lawyer in labour litigation cases
You will manage the relations with and monitor the work of outside lawyers whenever they are needed for provision of a labour law advice
You will work closely with all members of the EU Legal team and support on-going requests for review of other commercial contracts
You’ll be great for this role if:
You have a Master’s law degree from a German university (ideally you are a qualified lawyer with 2 state examinations, who is also admitted to the bar.
You possess general labour knowledge on a EU level
You come with 4-5 years of practical experience in the field
You have strong knowledge in German labour law
You have knowledge or experience with Work council structures in Germany
Ability to work in a team and a partner mindset
Fluent communication in German and English
You have a good general understanding of other legal matters too (Corporate & Contracts),
Nice to haves: Experience in global transfers, reorganisations and mobility of employees
