Our community is made up of thousands of talented people and we are looking for a Global Expansion Strategy Manager to write the next chapter of our expansion playbook and optimize our approach to launch countries faster and smarter in 2024.
We leverage all product features built within SumUp and adjust and localize them for new markets using our acquiring and banking partners – from a merchant’s first user experience in our app, to making their first sale, to getting their first payout.
What you’ll do
Stay up to date on market and local competition trends to identify and capitalize on new opportunities
Define our next market targets and propose the most optimal entry strategy (organic launch or via M&A), which should include at the least a robust product strategy and a general market business case, local legal and regulatory risk assessment
Manage multiple internal and external stakeholder relationships, paired with excellent communication skills to work with senior management of SumUp and external companies
Manage operational, commercial, legal, and technical delivery processes for new country launches, challenging timelines and resolving blockers to accelerate time-to-market
Coordinate deliverables with global internal and external stakeholders across functions on a daily basis, from Legal and Compliance to Operations and Product
Oversee the entire process, from initial exploration to delivery, and provide project teams and leadership with synthesized results and timely progress updates
Contribute to mapping dependencies and scoping an expansion playbook to accelerate the deployment of new markets
You’ll be great for this role if
You have several years of experience in consulting, corporate strategy, venture capital, business development, or high-growth startups
You have strong written and verbal English skills; Spanish and South East Asian languages are a plus
You are structured and able to solve complex problems autonomously, while keeping your team in the loop and sharing the progress transparently
You have a thorough problem-solving approach that emphasizes analysis and data-driven decision-making, which helps teams prioritize effectively
You have an entrepreneurial mindset
You have great lateral leadership skills, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and maintain our focus
